SWEET DREAMER SHERRY BLOCKINGER OPENED SHERRY B DESSERT STUDIO IN 2012 AND HAS BEEN RAISING THE BAR ON DESSERT EVER SINCE.
Named one of the “Best Small Town Bakeries” by Travel & Leisure in 2015 and one of the “100 People, Places or Things That Matter in 2016” by Departures. Combining her love for American desserts and French technique, Sherry reinterprets classic desserts in the studio’s state-of-the-art kitchen and makes everything from scratch daily. Sherry’s sweets include: Stuffed Brownies featuring salted caramel and Vietnamese coffee flavors; decadent cookies such as Chocolate Chunk, Toffee Crunch and Double Chocolate Peanut Butter; hand-cut Marshmallows with a deep vanilla flavor or subtle “tipsy” essence of bourbon or Irish coffee; Cupcakes including the studio’s best-selling Purple Velvet creation, homemade Ice Cream; as well as Dog Treats, and more. All the desserts are packaged in specialty purple and white boxes designed by Sherry.
While pursuing her degree in Communications at Purdue University, Sherry first discovered her interest in food and regularly returns as a guest lecturer. Following the birth of her daughter, Sherry decided to pursue her Grand Diplôme in Pastry Arts at the French Culinary Institute in New York. She went on to study restaurant management at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York and shortly after started a custom pastry business from her home, which led to the development of the “studio” concept.
Sherry lives in Katonah, New York, with her husband, Jeff, daughter, Jocelyn, and two rescue dogs, Lily and Tex. She enjoys traveling and entertaining in her free time and is an avid music lover, having studied drums and percussion for many years. Sherry also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Katonah Museum of Art in Katonah.
